Ella Fitzgerald & Duke Ellington
Join us Monday night, March 20, for an encore performance of stories and Big Band jazz, featuring Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald.
Inspired by the “Stories of Standards” series on KUVO, this show explores the lives and music of two of the most influential figures in jazz history. These legendary stars were dear friends, and some say there was more to it than that. Their collaborations spanned 50 years and produced some of the most iconic recordings in jazz.
This tribute combines music and stories to explore their relationship from their first meeting at the Savoy Ballroom in 1935 to their landmark 1957 album, Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Duke Ellington Songbook, and beyond.
One show, 7:00 to 8:30. Doors open at 6:00. Come early for great seats and great food. Front of Stage $35, General Admission $25, Student/Teacher $15 at the door or online.
Last time we offered this program at Dazzle it sold out two shows, so advanced tickets are strongly recommended.
The Flatirons Jazz Orchestra – featuring Deborah Stafford, is a traditional 18-piece big band that authentically recreates the great Swing-Era music of Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, Gene Krupa, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Diane Schuur, Buddy Rich, and more.
