  • Steve and his family relocated to Longmont from California in the fall of 2020, to be closer to his daughter’s young family and their toddler grandson. He brings a wealth of experience as a former collegiate music educator and a versatile trombone and tuba player, having toured as the lead trombonist with the big bands of Harry James, Mel Torme, and Bill Watrous, and worked for many years as a freelance musician in the Hollywood music scene.
    Steve, who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area, served as music professor at De Anza College in Cupertino, at El Camino College in Torrance, and at Los Angeles Harbor College. Most recently he worked as a regular substitute musician for several of the “Dixieland” groups at Disneyland. He stays busy as a composer/arranger, clinician, private instructor, and performer with the Flatirons Jazz Orchestra, the Harmony Hotshots traditional jazz band, and the Hip Bones trombone quartet.
