  • Matt began studying music at a very young age with his mother on piano.  While enrolled in junior high school jazz band as a keyboard player, he discovered guitar and “rock and roll.”  However, in 1989, a year and a half out of college, Matt received a traumatic brain injury from a roll-over car accident that left him unable to play for a few years.  Eventually, and after a lot of hard work, his playing returned.

Ten years with the Colorado Jazz Workshop gave Matt a love for Swing Era Jazz and a deep appreciation for the music of the great Freddie Green.

Matt has played with the Colorado Jazz Workshop, the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, the Denver Jazz Orchestra, the Denver Pops Orchestra, and now as a member of The Flatirons Jazz Orchestra. Matt is supported by a loving and indulgent wife who is enthusiastic about this aspect of her husband’s life.
